The evening will include a contribution from the play-reading group and the following one-act plays:
Mosaic of DreamsMosaic of Dreams explores the memories of a woman in her mid-twenties, who looks back on her childhood and adolescence, and her intense and complicated relationship with her mother, who suffered from periods of mental illness. The mother connects with art, and it is through conversations about the work of Dali and Van Gogh that she most fully communicates. The play is intense and intimate, punctuated with humour and brightness. The two characters:
1. The girl, mid-twenties. Has had a difficult upbringing, having been taken into care as an adolescent, been through foster-homes, difficult schools; she is apparently confiding her memories of her mother to someone for the first time.
2. Her mother, middle aged. Suffers from obsessive-compulsive behavioural disorder, her conversation has an internal logic to it, but she only seems to connect and express herself when talking about the lives of her favourite artists. Both characters are Irish.

The Visitor
The Visitor explores the lives and attitudes to sex and relationships of twenty-something women and men in a contemporary Canadian city. Jill talks to her more experienced room-mate Rebecca about what a relationship of a single night, without commitment, might be like; when backpacker Ethan arrives to sleep on the couch, she finds she might get the chance to find out. The Visitor is a play with a light, humorous touch, but an ironic perspective on modern relationships. The three characters:
1. Rebecca, twenty-something, quite experienced in life, streetwise and confident, analytical in her approach to relationships.
2. Jill, also in her twenties, perhaps less experienced than her friend, romantic and sensitive.
3. Ethan, also in his twenties, ironic and with a wry sense of humour.
We look forward to seeing you there!
